“I noticed something about Green Day on the invite,” began the conversation.

This was just another partner call, and just another day as a Project Manager at Advicent. The partner was referencing the name of the conference room being used for their call. Youth and an adaptable culture are pervasive here. Last summer, the company took a day to light the torch for the Advicent Olympics, and while members of sales might spend a few hours debating the winners of various feats of strength and mental prowess, the true victor was the engagement that has driven the development and success of our products.

I recently had the opportunity to sit down with one of our solutions consultants and realize the full impacts of our newest innovation – one that has both the employees and our partners buzzing. Narrator® was first presented to the industry in 2015, as a way for a financial advisor to share their story, allowing them to use configurable widgets and layout to create their brand.

In the span of a calendar year, Advicent has adapted this functionality to power a client-centric experience in its Narrator Clients application.

Keeping financial planning at the core of the user experience, Advicent has leveraged the NaviPlan® and Figlo™ engines in the first step to delivering a versatile tool that has the potential to revolutionize how the financial planning experience is delivered, especially in the face of a pending DOL ruling on fiduciary standards.

Through the use of APIs, Narrator will bring in the sort of Business Intelligence and metrics that will create a completely unique experience. In a field where differentiation and first impressions are the driver of client relationship development and subsequent AUM, the future of the Narrator platform seems boundless.

Much in the way social media has been used to access other applications or how banking information can be accessed on mobile applications today, Narrator allows for APIs to access information. The solution opens the door for partners to change how their clients experience financial planning, and what they will see based on their decisions to configure and what types of metrics they decide their unique application should retrieve. In a company where our mission is to enable everyone to understand and impact their financial future, I believe we are well on our way.
